Specialization Degree

Senior program / Study plan

Title of Senior Specialist in Culture, Science and Technology

1. Justification of the degree

Once finished the studies of Senior Diploma in Culture, Science and Technology, we want to offer to those students who want the possibility to continue with their university studies. The University of Lleida itself had already started two years ago a degree of Senior Specialization in Culture, Science and Technology, once launched, it was considered appropriate to redefine and redesign the proposal to respond to the diversity of students who have the Degree of Senior Diploma in Culture, Science and Technology. And for that, we take on the task of retaking and designing a new educational proposal, which is what we deploy next.

We offer a program of scientific, cultural and social development aimed at expanding cultural, scientific and technical knowledge, improving personal and social well-being as well as the quality of life of the great people. These studies can also facilitate the possibility of entering the world of university research while promoting intergenerational relationships.

2. Types of degree

The title of Senior Specialist in Culture, Science and Technology is part of the Own Titles of the University of Lleida and is governed by the specific regulations for this type of degree.

3. Access requirements

The title of Senior Specialist is aimed at all those who have obtained the title of Senior Diploma in Culture, Science and Technology by the UdL. This will mean having achieved the 138 ECTS credits that make up the total of the degree distributed as follows: 54 compulsory credits, 72 optional credits and 12 free choice or transversal credits.

The degree has different modalities that involve additional academic requirements depending on the proposed modality.

  • Be 50 years old or meet the year in which registration is formalized.
  • Be in possession of a degree obtained in any university in the rest of Catalonia and / or the Spanish State and that is equivalent to the degree of Senior Diploma in Culture, Science and Technology of the UdL. A Validation Commission would be created for this degree. 5. Structure and organization of the degree

A structure is proposed in two courses with a total of four basic modalities:

A) Integrated into official degrees or masters,

B) Research,

C) Advanced Senior Diploma (optional),

D) Mixed.

The distribution of credits by courses will be shaped as follows:

* The amount of credits will depend on the modality selected.

Then we go on to develop each of the modalities with the corresponding itineraries.

A) MODALITY INTEGRATED TO OFFICIAL GRADES OR MASTERS

This modality will be integrated by official subjects of degrees or masters of the University of Lleida with the option of making between 18 and 36 credits during the two courses of the degree. The amount of elective credits will depend on this selection until reaching 54 credits. The subjects that will be offered in the modality will be those agreed with departments, schools and / or faculties and who makes the assignment. The electives will be those in force for that course in the degree of Senior Diploma in Culture, Science and Technology.

The number of students that can be enrolled in each of the subjects would be between 1 and 3 students.

We believe it is advisable to propose a range of 1 to 3 students per subject, depending on the special characteristics that some may have (laboratories and others).

In order to access this modality, in addition to the access requirements (point 3), students who consider this option as a continuation of their diploma studies must have obtained a 7.0 grade in the median of the file and Interview with the faculty responsible for the subject. The purpose of the interview is to adapt expectations and know the characteristics of the subject.

In this modality, students will be integrated into a research group or linked to a researcher from the University of Lleida, with the option of making between 18 and 36 credits during the two courses of the degree.

The number of students that can be assigned to each of the groups will be set by the director of the research group. We believe it is advisable to propose a range of between 1 and 2 students per group, depending on the special tasks that may arise from the practical and teaching activity (laboratories and others).

In order to access this modality, in addition to the access requirements (point 3), students who consider this option as a continuation of their diploma studies must have obtained a 7.0 grade in the median of the file and Pass an interview with the researcher. The purpose of the interview is to adapt expectations, level of demand, type of participation and / or collaboration, to know how they would be integrated into the group, what their role would be and what functions and tasks they would develop.

This modality is proposed for all students interested in continuing the studies of Senior Diploma. In this modality, the student can continue studying the elective subjects of the senior diploma that has not previously enrolled or has not passed during the achievement of the diploma.

To access this modality it will be necessary to exceed the access requirements set out in point 3.

D) MIXED MODE

The mixed modality would consist of research credits, integrated and optional of the previous modalities. Students who had not completed the 18 research or integrated credits could be accepted and therefore could not benefit from the research or integrated modality, nor the advanced one. In this case, the proposed distribution of credits is the one indicated in the table.

CREDITS DISTRIBUTION
Curse Research Credits (OB) Integrated credits (OB) Optional Credits (OP) Cross credits Total
1r 9 ECTS 9 ECTS 9 ECTS 3 ECTS 30 ECTS
2n 0 ECTS 0 ECTS 27 ECTS 3 ECTS 30 ECTS

In order to access this modality, in addition to the access requirements (point 3), students who consider this option as a continuation of their diploma studies must have obtained a 7.0 grade in the median of the file, In addition to interviewing the teachers responsible for the subject and the researcher.

6. Contents of the degree

Following the initial spirit of the Senior Program, it is considered convenient that, like the optional subjects, they respond to a wide range of knowledge and skills in the different fields of knowledge, the subjects of each of the proposed itineraries continue the same thematic variety . The following areas of knowledge are considered: Experimental Sciences, Social Sciences, Medical Sciences and Humanities, depending on the teaching availability of the UdL and the proposals of the different departments.

7. The teaching staff

The teaching staff may have different backgrounds:

a) Teaching staff of the UdL, of the departments where the areas of knowledge in which the different subjects selected to be taught in this program are attached.

b) Teaching staff hired and external to the UdL, which must have an official university degree.

c) Collaborating teaching staff: professionals of recognized prestige in their field.

8. Student evaluation

To pass each course, the students will have to credit the attendance to 80% of the classes. In addition, each teacher will establish the evaluation system they deem appropriate: work, participation, practices, etc., and that will be specified at the beginning of the course. Final examinations will be avoided as far as possible, promoting continuous evaluation. It should be remembered that the pedagogical methodology used must be in line with the European guidelines, in which the student's continued work acquires a relevant importance, a fact that allows not having to resort to the evaluation by final exam.

9. Issuance of titles

Students who have successfully completed both courses will obtain the title of Senior Specialist in Culture, Science and Technology, as approved in the agreement no. 179/2011 of the Governing Council of July 12, 2011.

10. Registration

The registration will take place at the secretariat of the Institute of Education Sciences-Center for Continuing Education (ICE-CFC) of the University of Lleida, within the period that is publicly marked and after the pre-registration period. This enrollment will be independent for each academic year. Students will have to pay the amount corresponding to the credits enrolled for each current year. Likewise, students must pay the amount corresponding to tuition fees, cost of the file and the documentation required in point 5.

11. Academic coordination

The role of the coordination of the degree would be responsible for conducting interviews with researchers and responsible for official subjects to track the different students enrolled. Likewise, he would be in charge of tutoring with the students, whenever requested, to follow up.
