Vielle (Fïdula) III: La fídula y Jerónimo de Moravia (nivel avanzado)

Presentation

Jerome of Moravia is our great informant about the vielle in the 13th century. His treatise offers guidance about crucial elements such as ideal repertoires, ornamentation, phrasing, rhythm, and the tuning of the instrument. However, only the latter has received partial attention by modern musicologists and performers.

In this course the student will explore all relevant information about the vielle contained in Moravia’s treatise, and perform repertoires related to the treatise's context.

Jerónimo de Moravia es nuestra gran fuente de información sobre la fídula en el siglo XIII. Pero a pesar de que su tratado ofrece información sobre elementos cruciales como repertorios, ornamentación, fraseo, ritmo y afinaciones del instrumento, sólo el tema de las afinaciones ha recibido alguna atención por parte de los intérpretes modernos.

En este curso exploraremos toda la información relevante a la interpretación de la viella que ofrece el tratado de Moravia y tocaremos piezas relacionadas al contexto de la obra.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The student needs to play the vielle at an intermediate-advanced level and have knowledge of basic medieval music notation and music history. El estudiante debe poder tocar la viella a un nivel intermedio-avanzado y tener conocimiento de fundamentos musicales y lectura de notación musical moderna. También debe tener capacidad de lectura en inglés.
