Lifelong Learning Master's Degree in Advanced Ecological Buildings & Biocities I
Lifelong Learning Master's Degree in Advanced Ecological Buildings & Biocities I
Presentation
The Master in Advanced Ecological Buildings and Biocities (MAEBB) postgraduate program is an 11-month immersive program focused on learning how to design and build a new generation of buildings and cities to respond to the planet’s emerging climate challenges. The program is carried out in Valldaura Labs, in Barcelona, a 135 Ha property located in the Collserola forest. Here, students will live and work surrounded by nature while using the most advanced technologies and design techniques in the pursuit of what is also IAAC’s long term initiative, to create self-sufficient and ecological environments.
During the first six months in the program, students are comprehensively trained in the principles of design and construction of advanced ecological buildings through a series of focused and intense modules, which include material production, thermal and metabolic building systems, ecological structures and façade systems and much more.
After developing the necessary skills and a holistic understanding of advanced and ecological design, students collectively draft and build a full scale ecological building prototype.
The Master programme is orientated towards engineers, architects, artists, makers, designers, and graduates in any discipline related to the crafting of the built environment. The programme will be developed with the collaboration of companies and industry leading experts from around the world with the goal of forming new professionals interested in leading the design of ecological buildings worldwide.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor Degree: Architects, engineers, designers, material engineers, mechanical engineers and other related carreers.
The Master programme is oriented towards engineers, architects, artists, makers, designers, biologists, ecologists and graduates from any discipline related to the crafting of the built environment.
The programme is oriented at graduates who wish to commit and develop their design research skills in the context of new forms of practice within architecture and urbanism, ranging from large-scale environments to tectonic details and material properties.
Application process:
Applications are considered on the basis of an assessment of the quality of prospective students, their motivation, skills and previous academic achievements. Candidates are encouraged to give details of their motivation to study any particular programme. Once applications are reviewed, candidates will be invited to an online interview with the IAAC academic coordinator of the program. IAAC applications can be submitted each academic year.
To apply for any of our educational programmes, the applicant must fill out the online application form.
For the online application, the following required documents should all be submitted in English, with the exception of the undergraduate diploma that needs to be translated into Spanish. (All documents must be uploaded onto the designated space on the online application form in PDF format).
